July 2012 archive
I love to add glam with little bits and baubles. Lately I have been obsessing over these particular ones…

Tiffany and Co playing cards. An absolute must have for decadence and fun

Tiffany blue coasters

Adorably quirky wine stoppers

Equally quirky and fun way to incorporate a little Marie Antoinette into daily life with this vase

The gold nail polish is gorgeous but the cork stop topper is even better

I discovered Speculoos in Paris and it’s the most delicious cookie spread. Isn’t life always happier with a spoonful of cookie?

My Big Balloon. Absolutely the best balloon concept I have ever seen, both with the size and the fab streamers! I am gifting this to myself for my next birthday.

The letter candy dishes are so perfect for a party table display. I am trying to decide between XOXO or the first initials for my hubby and myself with a heart

I have fallen in love with the idea of a gold bar cart. I am going to start scouring vintage shops in search of one

Sleep is the most important beauty regimen, and why not channel Holly Golightly?! I purchased a sleep mask from Etsy like the one from Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It adds the most decadent style to sleeping
Summer Hair…I have been in a bit of a rut lately, constantly putting my hair in a top knot. It’s easy and always looks styled while being incredibly easy to do. I found several ideas that have the same ease and style.

Top knot with messy braid

Messy, twisted updo with a breezy dress

Film noir-esque with thick bangs and over-sized sunnies

Side swept bangs and messy updo mixed with a summer trench coat

Nicole Richie is the Queen of side swept bangs. I love the beachy waves too

Head scarf and over-sized sunnies…the easiest look that is instantly chic

Messy, teased ponytail with hair wrapped around the tie
I love boyfriend jeans but cannot stand them worn with flats or baggy tops because it will inevitably look sloppy. The examples below are my favorite ways to enjoy the casual comfort of a boyfriend jean while still looking chic.
The key components to making this look work is to play off the casual pants with dressed up accessories and tops that skim the body.

Seen here on Atlantic – Pacific,the look is casual but chic when the jeans and sweatshirt are mixed with leopard print heels and a top bun

This version uses tattered boyfriend jeans as the background for a Chanel style jackets, patent heels and Balenciaga Motorcycle bag
While in Chicago, the hubby and I went to Suite Lounge in Old Town. Great atmosphere and the most delicious drinks, including a Carrot Cake Martini that is a must have…especially since the glass is edged in icing!

Heavenly!
More Chicago Wanderlust here and here.
I am back from a long weekend trip to Chicago. I had a wonderful time in the city, visiting with friends, and seeing the sights in the city and also a childhood favorite that I was excited to see is still thriving and able to share with my hubby. Now I just have to get over the end of vacation blues!

Along Lake Michigan, wearing a J. Crew Cardi, CarMar skinnies, Repetto oxfords (similar), gold Tory Birch aviators (similar), vintage pouch necklace and the crazy feather earrings and bracelets are in homage to the Chicago Blackhawks events I attended earlier in the day.
I also wore the nautical inspired striped top I was hoping to during the weekend.
I am off to Chicago tomorrow for a long weekend. With the mix of warm summer air and Lake Michigan, I am hoping to have time to go boating on the lake. I long to wear a striped top, skinny pants and deck shoes.

Anything near the water will require a crisp, striped top. I love the concept of adding large chain link necklaces to play with the nautical flavor of the stripes. The bright high-waisted skirt is also a wonderful justification against the classic stripes.
And now I am off to pack…click these links for more on how I tackle packing and luggage.
Here are some of my favorite looks from bloggers, models and muses at this past week from Paris Fashion Week.

Today is La Fête Nationale, which celebrates the anniversary of the storming of La Bastille. It is celebrated in Paris with a huge military parade that goes along Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde, along with a fireworks show in the evening at the Eiffel Tower. Last year, I was in Paris celebrating this day with a picnic under the Eiffel Tower and the fireworks show in the evening! (Oh how I miss Paris!)

I highly recommend a trip to Paris any time of the year but it is especially fun during this celebration with the parade, fireworks and picnics.
Classic box bag and pumps are mixed with a slight edge in leopard print and red leather. I look at this and picture Marilyn Monroe in Some Like it Hot or a modern European woman wearing these pieces with a crisp white button down.

I am so excited to share the pictures from my wedding! My wonderful husband and I married May 26, 2012 in New Orleans, LA. Our wedding was designed with a vintage, European feel to it and we chose NOLA because of the French influences throughout the city.

Rings on porcelain Tiffany and Co box, floral fabric bouquet, Chloe Ballet shoes for the ceremony, glittered Jimmy Choos for the after-party, J Crew Wedding Gown.

All make-up by MAC, a dear friend attaching “Merci” labels to delicious lemon Cheryl and Co Cookies, custom Love cake topper, vintage suitcase filled with postcards bought throughout Europe for guests to sign in lieu of guestbook.

A moment together (but no peeking)
{Before the ceremony}

Flower girl bubbles, envelopes I made to hold handfuls of rose petals. The intro for the Groom and his boys included a chest bump and Top Gun High-Five. The boys in their pink argyle socks and grey Chuck’s.

It was a sweet, happy ceremony. I worked with the officiant creating vows that encompassed John and I. The songs we walked to were an instrumental Final Countdown (lol) for the boys, Bruno Mars “Marry You” for the flower girls (blowing bubbles) and Maid of Honor and The Band Perry “All Your Life” for my walk. The closing song was the Fratellis “Chelsea Dagger”. I am a major Chicago Blackhawks fan and they play that song to celebrate every goal, so John surprised me with that song (which is why I’m jumping in the air!)
{After ceremony moments}

{Little details below}
The colors used throughout the ceremony and receptions were pale pink, champagne and cream. I wore a J Crew wedding gown with Chloe Ballet flats, Anna Rivka head piece, earrings, bracelets and ring for the ceremony (LOVED my hair btw) while my Maid of Honor wore an Infinity dress in pale pink. The Groom and his party did not wear matching suits, because we preferred the eclecticism of the darker shades of suits mixed together and instead had matching ties, socks and Chuck Taylor’s for fun.
