Shopping: Fall/Winter Pants

All the Fall fashion magazines are rolling in and while I can’t help feeling sad over the end of summer, I cannot wait for Fall fashion, particularity several pant styles I must get!

Absolutely have to get a pair of leather skinnies. Michael Kors, DKNY and Free People all have affordable Vegan (sounds so much better than fake) leather versions that I will be trying this month in hopes for the perfect pair. Once I find the perfect pair I will post it.

These wide-legged jersey pants are the polar opposite of the skinny leather pants but how fab would these be for a Sunday brunch or a casual day shopping?

I love these beige slightly baggy/slightly skinny pants worn with loose layers and bright heels

Sadly, my favorite skinny jeans have died and I have to search for my new perfect mate. I am loving these dark wash skinnies by Rag & Bone. They look fantastic with heels, polished with a trench and fade into the background with a cape and Chucks.

This pair has me loving wide-legged denim too

This Holding Horses flared denim romper also has me hooked. I know, I know…overalls?! But paired with a striped top it takes on a Parisian street chic look. Plus the back is adorable with a high-waisted zipper.

Leggings are the perfect backdrop for brights, neutrals, and layers. The length and thickness are really important though. I cannot stand leggings that are thin or shiny because they are stretched out from a cheap fabric. My favorite is by Vince, are an incredible fit and fabric and def worth every penny.

I adore print pants. I already have 3 pairs but cannot resist a new pair. The floral pattern is toned down when mixed with a blazer & I love the subtlety of the crazy animal print worn with neutrals

So many wonderful choices…I cannot wait for the possibilité of what I may find and fall in love with!

Olympics 2012 Closing Ceremony

Just finished watching the Olympics Closing Ceremony and loved the compilation of music, fashion & costumes. Starting out with David Bowie’s “Fashion” playing while Kate Moss walked, Victoria Beckham in a Spice Girls reunion and highlighting Freddie Mercury and John Lennon in separate tributes, the ceremony did a fabulous job of showing the influence GBR has had on fashion and music throughout the decades.

Kate “The Great” Moss…absolutely stunning

George Michael performing “Freedom” ~ perfect theme for the Olympic’s

Weekend Style

I love the weekends…besides the break from work, the wardrobe opportunities are wide open with a variety of events to dress for…

I love the loose black shorts worn with a mostly untucked fully buttoned up blouse, shorter blazer and aviators

The earth tones in the blouse and bag worn with the gold jewelry create a quietly luxurious look

Here the vintage shorts are wonderfully juxtaposed with strappy sandals and floaty tank…perfect for an afternoon date

I adore these python shoes with ankle straps. The plum skinnies and moto jacket create a tough, downtown look while the ankle straps soften the look

The bright pink maxi would be perfect for an outdoor brunch

My go to outfit~skinnies, ballet flats, layered tops, a great bag…and I love this hat! More of my hat love can be seen here and here

This look screams road trip, from the updo to the casual layered pieces and striped pants

European Gypsy chic while baguette shopping

The ultimate weekend look~happy!

A Touch of Leopard

Leopard is such a fun pattern to work with. It can be quirky or chic. One of my go-to pieces is small silk black and white leopard scarf I bought off a street vendor in Paris. It is always in my bag for use when I need that little something extra a bit of leopard gives. Another go to favorite are leopard ballet flats. See other ideas below…

Gorgeous leather shift dress with a touch of leopard in the classic bag shape

The gold belt ties the skirt and top together and keeps the loose shirt from looking sloppy

Olivia Palermo in leopard ballet flats

The bright skirt and shoes are neutralized with the leopard scarf

Miss Piggy: The ultimate fashion girl

Mark Cross + Grace Kelly & Rear Window

I have been in love with the Mark Cross bag in Rear Window since the first time I saw the movie. In the film, Grace Kelly carries a Mark Cross bag {specially created for the movie} and in a momentous scene; in which the bag steals the scene, Grace Kelly removes her negligee while explaining to her boyfriend that she can travel lightly and be a part of his world.

That bag set my pulse racing {at 7 years old btw} and I have longed for it since. While on my honeymoon, I went to Barney’s and they had an entire wall of reissued Mark Cross bags including the trunk bag from Rear Window! I was torn between buying it {bye bye savings} or searching Ebay on an off chance. I took that chance and found a vintage one in mint condition! It arrived yesterday…I managed to restrain myself from hugging it while sleeping but otherwise haven’t taken my eyes off the bag! It is so exciting to have a lifelong love for a purse become a reality.

Honeymoon in New York City {Details}

Back from our honeymoon in NYC…it was so lovely and I’m excited to share the highlights!

Location: Hotel Indigo in Chelsea {one of my favorite areas}

~Day One Highlights~

 Private Invitation to the day before the sale started with an additional 10% off to total 70%. Had to go!

Shake Shack at Madison Square Park for the most incredible burgers and milk shakes

Strolling around Madison Square Park

Tiffany and Co for my Holly Golightly moments…and the prettiest pair of simple stud earrings, along with the deck of playing cards I’ve been lusting for.

Dinner at Scarpetta came with a strombolli bread basket

~ Day 2 ~

Private Luxury chocolate tasting tour {birthday present for the hubby} with 5 different shops around 5th Ave; 1 American, 1 Belgian and 3 French. Our guide, Mehdi is a chocolatier. The last chocolate stop; Michel Cluizel, had tastings from each of the plantations they have throughout the world to see the differences in taste from each country. The final piece, wrapped up like a wine cork was chocolate infused with red wine. Amazing!

Absolutely the best street cart food is at Halal Guys on 53rd and 6th

Champagne toast at Chanel (it’s so fun being a newlywed!)

{Taken around the corner from Chanel…def not in front of the shop!}

Chanel Credit Card Case {Honeymoon present from my wonderful hubby}

On Barney’s new shoe floor I fell in love with these Prada drivers. they are like walking on clouds

We ended the afternoon with a romantic tryst in Central Park nibbling on macaroons.

~ Day 3 ~

My patient hubby strolled to Soho with me so I could go to Maje, one of my favorite shops in Paris. I purchased a beautiful yellow and beige silk top with a cut-out right shoulder

Taro Bubble Tea at Crepe Cafe on 8th and 14th. The best I’ve ever had

Mexican for dinner at Rocking Horse Cafe {and the flowers next to us-so pretty I had to snap a pic}

Drinks at The Back Room, a speakeasy. The interior design has vintage style furnishings, dark lighting, carpeted walls to lessen the decibel level outside, drinks served in teacups and access to the bar is through a dimly lit alley. Great ambiance…but only so-so drinks as they seemed to be missing the liquor lol!

~ Day 4 ~

 High Line Park for an afternoon stroll. It’s an elevated park built over an old freight line that goes above the West Side. It’s great for scenes of the city from above to watch the world go by

We celebrated our last night honeymooning on the rooftop of Hotel Indigo.

~ Day 5~

Before catching the Acela home {I adore traveling by train} we had to get the most incredible bagels from the Brooklyn Bagel & Coffee Company. They are simply the best bagels I’ve ever had, huge, crispy on the outside, flavorful and the cream cheese is lavishly layered. Heavenly!

It was a lovely honeymoon, full of sweet romantic moments, yummy treats and shopping…perfect!!
